Series 3: Not So Floppy Hat - 3:8 SIZE L Regular Brim

£70.00

My Not-So-Floppy Hats have a millinery brim ‘wire’ sewn into the edge to stop the brim being blown into your face. They also sport an adjustable neck cord for safety on windy days and practicality if you just want to take it off for a bit.

The main fabric is surplus to the making of a linen suit or jacket from my other business in men’s tailoring. This amazing quality material was made in Ireland or Italy. The khaki and blue-green hat linen in this Series came from my shortening an alteration client’s wedding dress and then dyeing it and a too-big Croatian linen bedsheet that I downsized :) The peach and blue/white linens are surplus from my own clothes-making several years ago.

The hat lining is made of cotton shirting surplus from renowned European makers Albini or Alumo. The linen has been pre-washed and a cool hand wash is all that’s needed to keep your new hat looking tiptop.

Take care not to overly bend the brim wire, in use or when cleaning or storing it, as its made of plastic (despite its name), and may snap.

Making time: 2 hours 10 Minutes
