Series 4: Making
My Series 4 Sling Bags started life as a collection of interior furnishing swatch books I saved from a local shop a few years ago. When I saw that Designer Drapes in Penge had posted them on a local group I hot-footed it down there attracted by the beautiful colours and patterns of the fabrics inside. I then spent ages deconstructing the books and pairing the swatches across the collections thinking I’d make them into wash bags or project pouches and I did make a few of those that I sold on Etsy and then life got in the way of their progress.
I went to an outdoor electronic music gig this summer (2023) and I couldn’t help but notice the tens of identikit ‘round shoulder bags’ from a certain high-street megabrand that people were sporting and it got me thinking that I’d like one too but not the same as all these other ones. So inspired by this sling bag idea I’ve made my own. There are 63 bags in The Cranford Cabinet Series 4 and almost all of them are entirely unique. There are a couple of repeats where I had a larger swatch to use and I added some other curtain fabric offcuts I had as well which came in bigger bits. So if you want to express your uniqueness then head on over to my web shop to choose yours.
